A major PET preform manufacturer was running one of the largest injection-to-blow-molding operations in North America, and the existing manual process for moving freshly-molded preforms between machines was capping the plant’s economics. Our Solution:

  • Han-Tek designed and built an overhead in-line preform conveyor system connecting a fleet of Husky injection molders to multiple Sidel blow molders, with explicit routing logic mapping each Husky to its target Sidel and programmable belt speed that ensures consistent preform cooling between molding stages.
  • A separate but fully-integrated 4-station and 5-station Gaylord filling cell automatically activates when a downstream Sidel is full or offline, diverting preforms to dedicated chutes and Gaylord containers via pneumatically operated plows, so injection molding never stops, even when blow molding has issues.
  • A three-mode control selector (Sidel / Off / Gaylord) at every inline, combined with Auto Mode and Local/Sidel selectors at each Husky, lets the system route preforms automatically based on downstream availability, with built-in fault detection that prevents jam buildup and contamination.
  • Every contact surface meets FDA requirements: Intralox 900 Series food-grade modular plastic chain with rubber cleats, stainless steel transition surfaces, Lexan dome covers, and FDA-approved finishes. The plant passes FDA inspection without modification.
  • Han-Tek ran the conveyor overhead to preserve factory floor space and operator access, with structural channel supports mounted to casters for line-flexibility where applicable, and integrated PanelView Plus operator panels that keep daily operation simple and minimize specialized training.
